The Week in Quantum Computing. Brought to you by Sergio Gago (@piratecto).
Quick Recap
This week in quantum computing, we saw China become the third country to deliver a quantum computer with a production line in full capacity. Quantum Computing Inc created a new subsidiary to deliver products and services for the government and defense sectors. Quantum-safe identities for a digital future was also explored with the help of quantum random numbers and post-quantum cryptography and beyond by Fraunhofer institute. Quantum breakthroughs have been made in Australia, Sweden, and China with regards to quantum networks and computers, as well as quantum-safe authentication systems. Terra Quantum adds Investcorp to their investors adding more push from PE firms. A great reveiw of Quantum Programming Studio (QPS) by Brian. OpenQASM3 was released. AQT achieves 128 QV, which ties to the study summarizing the effort in Europe. Chiral superconductors may be here. Rigetti shares new strategy and reorganization, being the first company doing a reduction in force lying off around 28% of the staff (If you have been affected and are looking for something let us know and we’ll try to help!)
The roadshow begins! At Moody’s we have been busy playing with our qubits in the last months and we can’t wait to tell you more about it. I will hit the road soon to discuss some of our findings, what we will be release on the market and most importantly, how it can affect YOU.

Are you playing with ChatGPT as well? Besides the article below, if Quantum is tomorrow, Generative AI is today. There are many areas where Quantum can help (starting by using entanglement for word embeddings). However this meme summarizes it all.
The Week in Quantum Computing
Quantum breakthrough: Chinese scientists realize faster way of quantum key distribution
Chinese scientists have successfully implemented a new way of quantum key distribution (QKD) which can boost the speed of intercity quantum networks. Quantum network is known for its strong resistance against eavesdropping – theoretically, it's completely hacker-free.

Quantum-safe identities for a digital future
"Our goal is to develop quantum-safe authorization of users in an IAM (Identity Access Management) architecture with the help of quantum random numbers and post-quantum cryptography," explains Dr. Alexander Noack, group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems IPMS. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) refers to cryptographic algorithms that are used on classical hardware but promise security against attacks with quantum computers. In the project, the true random numbers required for these methods will be generated by a quantum random number generator (QRNG) to increase security.

Quantum breakthrough could revolutionise computing
Scientists have come a step closer to making multi-tasking 'quantum' computers, far more powerful than even today's most advanced supercomputers. Quantum computers make use of the weird qualities of sub-atomic particles. The team developed a system able to transport information from one chip to another with a reliability of 99.999993% at record speeds. That, say the researchers, shows that in principle chips could be slotted together to make a more powerful quantum computer.

Paper: Encoding-Independent Optimization Problem Formulation for Quantum Computing
We present an encoding and hardware-independent formulation of optimization problems for quantum computing. Using this generalized approach, we present an extensive library of optimization problems and their various derived spin encodings. Common building blocks that serve as a construction kit for building these spin Hamiltonians are identified. This paves the way towards a fully automatic construction of Hamiltonians for arbitrary discrete optimization problems. The presented freedom in the problem formulation is a key step for tailoring optimal spin Hamiltonians for different hardware platforms.
