Quick Recap
More partnerships, mergers and collaborations. Quanvia merges with Nimoy to take quantum to LATAM. Microsoft to work with NASA and Classic with Cold Quanta. PQShield raises $20M for post-quantum cryptography. HQS raises €12M for simulations and Aegiq a seed round of £3,5M. Week focused on communications and crypto with a 830km fibre link showing promising results in twin field QKD.
MIT releases a new quantum programming language (hey, we don’t need Javascript in Quantum). BosonQ Psi launches their platform for Computer Aided Engineering and hey, 20 years ago quantum computers were able to factor number 15. We haven’t gone very far from that, but stay tuned!.
Quantum Computing goal is to run Doom on the universe. Fantastic strip by SMBC as always. Talking about factoring numbers and why we do what we do.

Aegiq secures seed investment to revolutionize trust in global telecommunications and computing with quantum photonics
Aegiq has today announced that it secured seed investment from an investor syndicate led by High-Tech Gründerfonds, with participation of Deepbridge Capital and business angel investors. Together, with existing funding from Innovate UK, the seed investment brings Aegiq’s total available funding to over £3.5m ($4.8m). Having completed the first closing Aegiq is considering funds to join the second closing.

Twin-field quantum key distribution (QKD) across an 830-km fibre
Summary of recent long-distance QKD experiments beyond 400 km. In VOA and fibre scenarios, the total numbers of transmitted quantum signals were 3 × 1014 and 3.2 × 1014, respectively. Nature Photonics, https://doi.org/10.

Twist, a new language for Quantum Computing
Scientists from MIT‘s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAIL) created their own programming language for Quantum Computing called Twist. Twist can describe and verify which pieces of data are entangled in a quantum program, through a language a classical programmer can understand.

It’s been 20 years since “15” was factored on quantum hardware
Classical factoring algorithms are generally quite computationally expensive, especially when it comes to factoring large integers. This simple truth forms the basis of many modern encryption algorithms, which use large numbers and their prime factors to secure data.
