Quick Recap
Google publishes breakthrough in error correction just one week China beats again the quantum supremacy goal. With their paper in cyclic error correction, embedded in Sycamore we may be getting closer to the end of the NISQ era. In the meantim Europe announces the first commercial superconducting chip, QuantumWare’s Soprano chip. One week after Coldquanta announced their plans for 100 qubit scalable machine, and Rigetti’s stackable computer.
To top it up, IBM published a paper proving how quantum kernels can solve machine learning problems that are hard for classical problems in machine learning. This is: solving classification problems faster than classical ML algorithms.
The Quote of the Week
"It was mathematics, the non-empirical science par excellence, wherein the mind appears to play only with itself, that turned out to be the science of sciences, delivering the key to those laws of nature and the universe that are concealed by appearances. "
Hannah Arendt - political theorist.

Quantum kernels can solve machine learning problems that are hard for all classical methods
For a certain class of machine learning problems, a quantum computer can see patterns where a classical computer would only see random noise. Few concepts in computer science cause as much excitement—and perhaps as much potential for hype and misinformation—as quantum machine learning.
