This week saw significant advancements in the field of quantum cryptography and communication. The European Commission granted €7M to the QUARTER consortium, led by LuxQuanta, for the development of quantum cryptography technologies. This funding aims to increase the maturity and readiness of quantum cryptography for deployment within the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure. Additionally, India's first quantum computing-based telecom network link is now operational, as announced by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. In a collaborative effort, QuSecure and Accenture successfully demonstrated the first multi-orbit data communications test secured with post-quantum cryptography, showcasing the reality and possibility of crypto-agility. And Quantropi partnered with Cyberbridge.On the research front, Chinese scientists achieved a breakthrough in quantum error correction (QEC) based on superconducting QC. While a group at Oxford developed a robust quantum memory within a trapped-ion quantum network node, capable of storing information for extended periods. In a new approach to qubits, MIT researchers proposed using beams of light from two lasers of slightly different colors to measure and control the spins of atomic nuclei. We have seen a great paper by the JPMorgan group on hedgding with quantum (perhaps quantum stocks?) and on how to use tensor networks for image classification.Horizon Quantum raised $18.1m in Series A investment. Do we still have growth in the industry? Yuval wrote a great piece arguing that some of the investments on the demand side are pivoting into AI, and I definetely see the same thing. Is this really a slowcession coming to Quantum? Well, stock prices seem to agree with that (with the exception of IonQ making good against their expected revenues!) What do you think?
